WHAT IS IT:

The use of ingredients, often extracted from fruit, nuts, sugarcane and other natural sources, to dissolve or dislodge skin cells. In superficial Peels, the peeling effect is invisible, and with medium and deep Peels, the peeling effect is evident, with visible flaking.

WHAT IS IT FOR:

WHAT HAPPENS:

The skin is carefully prepared, and the correct peel for your skin condition is chosen and applied. The depth of the Peel is carefully controlled. Once the desired depth is achieved, the Peel is neutralised and removed. Skin cells are invisibly loosened and then slowly desquamate in the days that follow. New skin cells surface, leaving skin clearer, fresher and smoother and pores less clogged.

DOWNTIME:

Up to seven days, depending on the depth of the peel. Potential flaking and dryness, if it occurs, usually happens between day three and seven.

DISCOMFORT LEVEL:

Mild to moderate.

RECOMMENDED FREQUENCY:

When doing superficial Peels, a course of four and six treatments may be required at one to four-week intervals, for the best results. Intermittent treatments will help clear or refresh skin or aid in the effectiveness of other modalities.

NEED TO KNOW:

Avoid the sun after a peel for between five days and a month, dependent on peel depth. Broad spectrum sun protection is mandatory every day during this period.

Never pick any flaking skin if it occurs.

There is usually only slight dandruff flaking or none at all with superficial peels but more is possible and does occur with medium and deep-level peels.

No exercise or heat treatments for 24 hours post-Peel.

No sauna, steam baths, chlorine or waxing for two weeks after Cosmelan® peels.

Avoid retinoids, acids and exfoliating scrubs for two to seven days, and 30 days for the Cosmelan® peeling system.

No waxing or hair removal on the treatment area for two days to one-week pre and post Peels.

If there is a history of herpes (cold sores) in the treatment area, the prophylactic use of antiviral creams or oral antivirals is recommended prior to and post-treatment.

Mineral make-up is allowed after treatment.

Please mention prior to treatment if you have any allergies to aspirin, avocado, latex, nut, fruit and dairy.

SUITABILITY WHEN PREGNANT OR LACTATING:

No, with the exception of more gentle resurfacing treatments.

TREATMENTS:

Peels can be combined with treatments such as Meder, Oxyjet, Skinpen® Microneedling, Microdermabrasion and Jacqueline's Signature CIT, P&C, and LED treatments. They are also excellent treatments for the improvement of the skin on the back, hands and body.

MORE INFORMATION:

Peels are categorised by the depth of the layer of skin they reach, namely Very Superficial, Superficial, Medium and Deep. The depth achieved is a result of the PH of the peel, the percentage of the active ingredients, the ingredient used, the number of layers applied and the exposure time. It is also influenced by what is used at home, pre and post-peel.

Each type of peeling agent has its own particular characteristics. Their natural acidity (PH) also varies, and this can be changed further by purposefully altering and “buffering” them to make the action gentler.

Peels can speed up cell renewal and collagen production, decongest the skin and may have an antimicrobial action. Longer term, they can improve the barrier function of the skin, skin quality and colour.

P&C BY JACQUELINE PARKE

P&C BY JACQUELINE PARKER

Jacqueline’s bespoke, signature Peel and Cleanse (P&C) treatment combines Superficial Clinical Peeling or Resurfacing and Traditional Deep Cleansing - in one treatment. Peels are antibacterial and in addition, soften the keratinised layer that can accumulate, blocking pores. Administering a Peel, therefore, prepares the skin for deep cleansing much more efficiently than heat and steam and facilitates almost effortless extractions. It also effectively reduces further congestion, thereafter. Other treatments, including Mesotherapy masks,  can be added to the treatment for hydration, brightening or calming effects.

Treatment usually results in no visible flaking, light dandruff flaking or slight dryness.

Quetion.png

COSMELAN® SYSTEM

An efficient depigmentation and lightening treatment system and Peel which treats skin blemishes caused by melanin (pigment) dysregulation.

Cosmelan reduces and eliminates acquired skin blemishes of melanic origin, increasing skin luminosity and equalising skin tone. It is safe and effective for skin of all ethnicities and more than 1 million patients have had the treatment to date. It is free of hydroquinone and prescription retinoids making it more tolerable for all skin types and safe to use year-round if the prescribed SPF home care is diligently followed. It is particularly good at stabilising pigment production in the skin and as a result, often achieves longer-lasting results than laser and IPL treatments.

Mesoestetic Cosmelan® treatment system consists of an initial in-office treatment supported and intensified by a home care regime which needs to be committed to for a period of at least 10 to 12 months.

Significant skin flaking and redness occur with this treatment, especially in the first seven days.

Never pick any flaking skin if flaking occurs.

A commitment to a 10-12 month home care treatment system is required.

Avoid sun beds or direct sun exposure for one-month post treatment.

Treatment usually results in significant visible flaking, redness and dryness.

If there is a history of herpes (cold sores) in the treatment area, the prophylactic use of antiviral creams or oral antivirals is recommended prior to and post-treatment.

RESURFACE

RESURFACER

Sometimes clinical strength Peels are too strong for a skin type, it isn't possible to avoid sun exposure for the required month pre and post-treatment, or a Peel isn’t suitable to combine with other chosen treatments. In that case, Resurfacer treatments using buffered AHA’s or enzymes can be the answer.

It is usually only necessary to avoid the sun for a few days after the treatment and there is no down time. Gentler Resurfacer treatments will smooth the surface of the skin, help to unclog pores and are usually combined with Medi-facials such as Meder Deep Cleanse and PeelLED treatments and Oxyjet Deep Cleanse.

Treatment usually results in no flaking.
